Kingan Forestry manages two harvester/forwarder teams – J Kingan & Sons using purpose-built machines for felling larger commercial crops and J&I Finlay with specialist equipment for poor access and trickier felling sites. Other contractors are used for more specialist hand-fell, hardwood and thinning operations as required.
Alongside the more commercial aspects of harvesting we also specialise in estate forestry and recognise the sensitivities around small and sporting estates and amenity woodlands. We work closely with our clients to ensure that timing constraints are met to suit the estate calendar and that the operations are completed to a high standard.
Kingan Forestry can advise on thinning types and continuous cover forestry as well as consulting on woodland creation and other grant schemes. We can employ smaller machinery and use methods such as horse-extraction where site constraints dictate.
As well as purchasing standing crops we can also undertake brash recovery; marketing of your timber at roadside, whole tree harvesting and chipping of your crop for biomass. If your woodlands are not FSC certified we can still access markets restricted to certified timber under our own FSC controlled wood certification.
The company has felling operations ongoing in Southern Scotland and Cumbria and supplies roundwood to markets throughout the UK.
